Leeds United completed one signing on deadline day, as winger Raphinha joined the club in a big-money move from Rennes.
The Whites were in the market for a speedy winger, and a host of options were linked with moves to Elland Road ahead of Monday’s international transfer deadline.
In the end, Leeds went with Raphinha, luring the Brazilian to Elland Road in a deal worth up to €23million (£21million) according to Ouest-France.
The move was completed just in time, and came just over 24 hours after Raphinha had bagged a goal and an assist against Reims in his final Rennes appearance.
The 23-year-old previously impressed at Sporting in Portugal as well as with Rennes, and is now looking to make an impression in the Premier League.
Leeds fans will have spotted that Deco was the agent working with Raphinha on this deal, and the former Chelsea star has offered his view on the winger.
Speaking to Lance in Brazil, Deco has called Raphinha a player of ‘incredible quality’, believing that he can adapt to any style of play and especially under Marcelo Bielsa.
Deco predicts that Raphinha will ‘make history’ at Leeds, comments which will surely leave Leeds fans buzzing to see him in action for the first time.
“Raphinha is a player of incredible quality, he can adapt to the most diverse styles of play,” said Deco. “It was like this where he went and in the Premier League it will be no different, especially in Leeds, which plays a purposeful, offensive football. I’m sure he will make history,” he added.
