West Ham United were so close to earning a massive three points against Leicester yesterday.

West Ham star Declan Rice spoke exclusively to the club’s official website in the aftermath of his side’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City in the Premier League yesterday, and shared what he and his teammates discussed at half-time at the King Power Stadium.

The Hammers nearly held on for all three points against the Foxes, after club captain Mark Noble was sent off after 38 minutes, but they eventually had to settle for a draw after Wilfred Ndidi’s deflected shot found the back of Lukasz Fabianski’s net.

Manuel Pellegrini’s team now sit in 13th spot in the Premier League table, but there are definitely signs that the players have turned the corner, and are slowly adapting to the Chilean’s new methods and philosophies.

Rice, who has been one of West Ham’s star men this season, spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and shared what he and his teammates discussed during the half-time break against Leicester:

“We dug in and we said at half time that we would have to go out and fight for everything. That’s what we did – the amount of times they were caught offside and the amount of second balls we won showed that.”

Next up for the Hammers is their Carabao Cup clash with Tottenham on Wednesday night, and Pellegrini’s men will have to match the effort that showed against Leicester, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of beating Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
