West Ham United star Declan Rice has praised Aston Villa youngster Louie Barry on Twitter for his goal against Liverpool.

Barry found the back of the net for Villa in their 4-1 defeat to Premier League rivals Liverpool at Villa Park in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday evening.

The 17-year-old striker – who joined the Villans from Barcelona in January 2020 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth more than £800,000 – scored in the 41st minute with a beautiful finish.

Rice, who can operate as a defender or as a defensive midfielder, was following the match, and the England international was impressed by the goal that Barry scored.

One for the future

Barry is a very promising and young striker, and his goal against a very strong Liverpool side will only increase his confidence.

The 17-year-old is unlikely to be part of the Villa first team on a regular basis anytime soon, but in the coming years, the striker could make a name for himself playing for the Villans, who are doing well in the Premier League at the moment.
