According to Spanish outlet, Sport, Liverpool are interested in signing Frenkie De Jong from Barcelona.
As you can imagine, any midfielder from Barcelona is a top talent, but you don’t just have to take our word for it.
Indeed, De Jong has previously been praised by the likes of Lionel Messi, but perhaps the most interested piece of praise he’s received has been from Declan Rice.
What’s been said about De Jong?
Rice has spoken very highly of De Jong in the past.
“I think when you start out in football for sure you always want to play at the top. You want to play in the Champions Leagues. I think if you were in football and didn’t want to do that, there’d be no point in playing,” Rice told Sky when asked if he wants to follow in De Jong’s footsteps by playing in the Champions League.
“De Jong has got his move to Barcelona and it’s fully deserved – he’s a top, top player, I think you’ve seen that in the Champions League – and it will be great to come up against him in the Nations League.”

Perfect for the Premier League
Declan Rice is clearly a big fan of De Jong, and it has to be said, that the Dutchman would be perfect for the Premier League.
The Dutchman isn’t too dissimilar to Rice. He’s a deep-lying midfielder who is excellent at driving with the ball and progressing play, and that would make him a great fit for the English game and particularly Liverpool.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Reds can get this one over the line, but if they can, this could end up being a wonderful signing.
