The West Ham United defender is a rumoured target for Tottenham Hotspur.
Declan Rice has bemoaned the form of Hugo Lloris during West Ham United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Lloris made a string of saves to hand Tottenham all three points at the London Stadium, after Erik Lamela’s goal late in the first half.
And Rice, the West Ham defender-cum-defensive-midfielder who was recently linked with a cross-capital transfer to Spurs, thought the Frenchman made the difference for Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
“I thought it was a very, very tight game,” the 19-year-old said via Football.London. “We conceded a very sloppy goal from a cross again, but we had so many chances where we could have scored and we were unlucky not to pick up the three points.
“Hugo Lloris made some fantastic saves. Arnie kept trying and trying and that one in the 90th minute (when) Hugo came out – he’s a top keeper.
“I think we are improving 100 per cent. You can see on the pitch that we’re playing with intensity, creating chances and we just need to be a bit more solid at the back, but that’s going to come.
“We’re only nine games in and we’ll go again next week at Leicester. I’m confident we can get the three points there.”
Rice, who signed for West Ham from Chelsea’s academy, was making his sixth appearance of the Premier League season against Tottenham.
The London-born player has been offered a new contract by the Hammers, but is yet to commit his future to the club.
He is also at the centre of a tug-of-war between the English Football Association and their Republic of Ireland counterparts over his international future, having already represented the latter country at youth level.
