Timothy Fosu-Mensah was named in the starting line-up for Manchester United’s under-18s for the first time since receiving international clearance.

Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah will finally make his debut for the club this weekend having signed for them back in September.

The 16-year-old centre-back moved to Old Trafford from Ajax during the summer transfer window but he has had to wait for international clearance before making his first steps as a United player.

That has now been received, and the Dutch-born player was named in United’s under-18s starting line-up to face their Everton counterparts on Saturday.

Fosu-Mensah is very highly-rated in his homeland and United reportedly beat a number of other top clubs to his signature.

Predominantly a centre-back he can also play as a right-back if required and he is currently the captain of Holland’s under-17 side, for whom he has made five appearances to date.

Now the player’s aim will be to impress under-18 coach Paul McGuiness and ultimately United boss Louis van Gaal who will know the teenager well given his extensive knowledge of football in the Netherlands.
