Newcastle United will be tested to the maximum over the next few weeks with so many players unavailable.
During an interview with the club’s official website, Magpies defender DeAndre Yedlin shared his excitement ahead of their FA Cup third round replay against Birmingham City tomorrow night, highlighting the strength of their squad as something that makes them such a strong team.
The 23-year-old United States international moved to St James’ Park from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, but has only made 10 Championship starts for Rafa Benitez’ men so far this term.

With the injury sustained by Vurnon Anita on Saturday, however, Yedlin could very well be given an opportunity to impress the Spaniard with a lengthy run in the first-team.
And the American spoke to NUFCTV about the strength in depth that Newcastle have:
“I think that’s what makes this team so strong, is the depth of the squad. This is why we have all the players that we do, to fill in for times like this. I’m sure everybody who gets the opportunity to play will do great.”

The Tyneside outfit are now entering what is probably the most crucial period of their campaign, and their mini injury crisis, along with three players being unavailable due to their participation in the AFCON, could not have come at a worse time.
Benitez spent a lot of money in the summer, however, and their chances of success in both the league and the cup will now depend heavily on how the likes of Yedlin cope with filling in for the key absentees.
