DeAndre Yedlin has impressed during his initial appearances for Newcastle United.
DeAndre Yedlin has told the Chronicle that he cannot believe the quality of Newcastle United’s squad.
Yedlin joined Newcastle from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, and he has immediately been impressed by the standard of his new teammates.
The American international has been staggered by the amount of talented players there are at St. James’ Park, and he insists that whoever comes into Newcastle’s first-team is ready to perform.
“It is unbelievable how much depth we have in the squad,” Yedlin said.
“We feel like we can put anybody on the field and they’ll do the job.
“We have a strong team, we just need to keep pushing and stay at the top.”
As a direct consequence of the amount of quality in Newcastle’s squad, Yedlin has not become a permanent starter on Tyneside yet.
The rapid full-back may have impressed whenever he has played for Newcastle, but he is yet to secure his place in Rafael Benitez’s first-team.
Benitez has operated with a rotation policy so far this season, to ensure that his team stay fresh.
Newcastle appear to be thriving in the Championship, and they are currently leading the way in the second tier – having won 11 of their last 13 league matches.
