Newcastle United picked up a superb 2-1 win at Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, virtually guaranteeing them Premier League safety.

The Magpies saw Jonjo Shelvey and Ayoze Perez find the net at the King Power Stadium, and whilst Jamie Vardy pulled one back, Newcastle held on for the win.

Manager Rafael Benitez will be delighted with a third straight Premier League win, as Newcastle are now set to be in the Premier League again next season, virtually achieving safety after a topsy-turvy season.

Benitez will also be pleased with what was a perfect away performance, as the commitment of his players was summed up in one particular passage of play against the Foxes.

The likes of DeAndre Yedlin, Matt Ritchie, Paul Dummett, Shelvey and Perez all went into full-blooded challenges to win the ball for Newcastle in the space of around 20 seconds, showing the passion Newcastle fans want.

Christian Atsu eventually committed a foul to end the passage of play, and Newcastle defender Yedlin took to Twitter to mock his teammate for taking it ‘too far’ as his rash challenge was penalised.

Atsu offered a response that Newcastle fans will love though, as he replied by stating that it’s all for the Magpies cause, with fans finally seeing a set of Newcastle players putting their bodies on the line.
