De Andre Yedlin impressed on a loan spell at Sunderland, before joining Newcastle United last summer.
DeAndre Yedlin has insisted in the Chronicle that he holds no resentment towards Sunderland, despite now being a Newcastle United player.
Yedlin spent last season on loan at Sunderland from Tottenham Hotspur, and he impressed at the Stadium of Light.
The youngster had a very strong run of form towards the end of the campaign, as Sunderland narrowly avoided relegation.
It was expected that Sunderland would attempt to make his loan move permanent during the summer transfer window, but no deal materialised.
And Newcastle took advantage of their North East rival’s hesitation over signing the American – by offering him a permanent contract at St. James’ Park.
Yedlin has already made a positive start on Tyneside, but the 23-year-old insists that he still holds Sunderland in high regard.
“I have nothing against Sunderland,” Yedlin said. “I had a great experience there, and made great friends there, but now I’m at Newcastle, and that’s where my focus is.”
Yedlin has already made six appearances for Newcastle, and he has claimed a goal and two assists.
The rapid full-back has helped, as Newcastle have climbed up to third in the Championship table.
