Newcastle United defender DeAndre Yedlin has impressed with his performances this season.

Benitez is famed for his ability to put together a strong defensive unit, and Yedlin has developed as a player under his stewardship.
The Spanish boss repeatedly goes through team shape in training, and that has helped Yedlin hone his defensive skills.

Yedlin admits that sometimes he finds the training monotonous, but the 24-year-old can certainly see the benefits.
He said: “(It helped) massively. I think it’s one of the things that we work on a lot in training. It’s a bit boring, but you don’t really realise when you’re doing it as well, but when you get into the game situations, it’s much easier and things get slowed down for you and you see situations that you’ve seen before in training, so things just become much easier.”
Yedlin had began his career as a winger, who would terrorise defences with his pace.
However, the American international was moved to full-back after making the switch to England with Tottenham Hotspur.

And Yedlin claims that he is now starting to find more pleasure in playing in defence.
“I enjoy it more now. Once you start to become OK at something, you learn to enjoy it more,” Yedlin said.
“I don’t think I was the best defender before so it wasn’t fun for me. It’s getting better.”
Yedlin is set to return to Newcastle in the coming days, and he may start for Benitez’s side in their next match which comes against Southampton at St. Mary’s.
