Rangers ace Josh Windass has been linked with a move away from Ibrox.

Josh Windass of Rangers looks dejected after the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on April 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Dean Windass has taken to Twitter this morning in order to confirm that his son Josh does have a £3million release clause in his Rangers contract – but is focused on staying at Ibrox.

Gers ace Windass joined the club from Accrington Stanley back in the summer of 2016, but struggled in his first season with the club, failing to really nail down a place under Mark Warburton or Pedro Caixinha.

However, the 24-year-old hit his stride last season, smashing 18 goals in 41 games in all competitions, particularly thriving once Graeme Murty took charge following Caixinha’s sacking.

Windass drew interest from Preston North End in January, but Rangers stood firm and kept the attacking midfielder, who should play a key role under new boss Steven Gerrard too.

Today though, Rangers fans have been given something to worry about, as The Express report that Cardiff City are poised to activate a £3million release clause in Windass’ contract at Ibrox.

Manager Neil Warnock allegedly values Windass at around £2million, but would be willing to activate the release clause in order to forego negotiations with Rangers, meaning the Gers face a nervous wait.

Now, Windass’ father Dean – a former Hull City and Aberdeeen ace – has taken to Twitter to confirm to one Rangers fan that there is indeed a release clause in his son’s deal, worth £3million.

Yet when one Rangers fan suggested that Windass is committed to the Gers and is seeking a 30-goal season next term, Dean confirmed that is the case having been told as such by Josh himself, hinting he may yet want to stay at Ibrox.
