Aston Villa have appointed Dean Smith as their new manager, and Scott Hogan could benefit.

New Aston Villa boss Dean Smith’s past comments on Scott Hogan should encourage the striker that the appointment of the former Brentford boss will be the turning point of his career at Villa Park.
Smith has only just taken over at Villa, and it will give him a chance to link back up with Hogan.
Hogan worked with Smith at Brentford earlier in their respective careers, when the striker enjoyed the best run of form of his career.
And Smith’s old comments on Hogan, when he was linked with a move to Villa, show just how highly he is rated by the manager.
“Everyone has a value at Brentford, but that does not mean we will sell players for less than they are worth to us,” Smith said to the Ealing Times.

“Scott is a great player and it is no surprise that there is plenty of interest in him.”
Hogan’s move to Villa has not worked out as hoped so far, as he has struggled to make much of an impression.
But the striker could now turn things around, with Smith at the helm.
Hogan has proven his quality at Championship level before, and if Smith can get him back to his prolific best, then Villa will really benefit.
Smith will take charge of Villa for the first time in two weekends’ time against Swansea City.
