Steve Bruce and Dean Smith have both reportedly wanted to bring Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow to Aston Villa.

Dean Smith wants to bring Karl Darlow to Aston Villa, according to The Sun, a year after Steve Bruce initially wanted the Newcastle United stopper.
Villa’s financial situation meant they were unable to sign Darlow from Newcastle United in the summer, but they are in a much more healthy state now.
Smith is expected to be given funds to spend, and Darlow is now believed to be one of his top targets.

The Newcastle stopper has suffered from a lack of game time this season, with his first-team chances limited.
And with Villa on the look out for a new number one, Darlow would be a great choice.
The English stopper has proven to be very reliable at Championship level in the past, and he would be a major upgrade on Orjan Nyland, who has looked shaky so far this season.
