Dean Smith would be making an error if he recalls Aston Villa winger Andre Green from his loan spell at Portsmouth.

The Sun suggest that Villa are thinking about bringing Green back this month, with Smith looking to bolster his attacking options.

However, terminating Green’s loan at a time when he appears to just be clicking into gear would be a mistake.

Green has suffered badly with injury since joining Portsmouth, but he is now starting to prove his worth.

The Villa youngster scored in Pompey’s FA Cup win over Norwich City, to put even more pressure on Kenny Jackett to give him a starting role at Fratton Park.

Green seems to be finding the grove now, and ending his loan at this stage would surely be poor for his development.

Villa already have a wealth of attacking options in the form of Yannick Bolasie, Anwar El-Ghazi, Jack Grealish, Yannick Bolasie and Jonathan Kodjia.

And Smith would be far better off letting Green stay at Portsmouth, as the youngster looks to be on the very edge of becoming a vital player in Jackett’s side’s promotion push.
