Aston Villa boss Dean Smith spoke to reporters after his side’s 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers at Villa Park last night, and raved about the performance of James Chester, labelling the centre-back’s display as ‘excellent’, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The Villans are now up to 13th spot in the Championship table, and the club’s fans will be hoping that their team can embark on a winning run that would see them jump into contention for promotion.
Smith has implemented a more attractive brand of football at Villa Park, and the club’s fans seem to already be on board with the 47-year-old’s vision and philosophy.
Smith spoke to reporters after his side’s win over Bolton, and took time to praise the performance of James Chester, labelling the centre-back as ‘excellent’, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“I watched his interview before the game when he said he has not been at his best this season. I thought he was excellent tonight. He can be pleased with his performance and also how he is nurturing young Axel alongside him, who is showing a lot of improvement.”
Next up for Villa is a trip to Derby County next Saturday, and Smith’s side will have to be at their very best, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of beating Frank Lampard’s men.
