Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack has not entirely ruled out the possibility of a return.

Dean Smith could actually benefit from giving Ross McCormack a chance at Aston Villa.
McCormack’s relationship with Steve Bruce became strained and his future at Villa Park appeared over.
However, Smith’s appointment at the claret and blues ensures that he may just given McCormack hope of a return.
And the experienced striker did not entirely rule out the possibility of a return.
He said: “Opportunities at Villa may have sailed now, although I haven’t spoken to the new manager yet.
“My target is to get as sharp as I can and hopefully goals will come.”
McCormack is set to spend this season on loan in Australia, but that should ensure that maintains his match sharpness.

And if Villa fail to earn promotion this season, then McCormack should not be entirely written off.
McCormack has proven that he can be a huge threat at Championship level, and he shouldn’t be discarded by Smith before being handed a chance.
The 32-year-old could thrive in Smith’s anticipated style, which will encourage his side to keep possession far more than under Bruce.
And if McCormack is open to a return, then Smith should give him one last chance to impress at Villa Park.
