Aston Villa earned a massive three points against Derby County at the weekend.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s fine 3-0 win away at Derby County on Saturday, and shared one thing in particular that disappointed him about their performance, as quoted by the Express & Star.

The Villans currently sit in 11th spot in the Championship table, but such is the tightness of England’s second tier, they are just four points adrift of sixth placed Derby County.

Smith has undoubtedly overseen drastic improvements since he took over from Steve Bruce at the start of last month, and Saturday’s win over Derby gave the club’s fans a real glimpse of what they are truly capable of.

The Aston Villa manager spoke to reporters after his side’s superb win over the Rams, but stopped short of showering praise on his players, instead choosing to highlight what they still need to improve upon, as quoted by the Express & Star:

“I could see it in their eyes on Saturday, there was a lot of belief there. There are still things we need to get better at – defending long balls down the middle for one, where they created a couple of chances in the first-half. But when we have a game-plan and the players follow it, we look one hell of a team. There is a lot more to come from this squad.”

Next up for Villa is their huge derby clash with Birmingham City on November 25th, and a win over the Blues would really kick-start their season.
