Aston Villa have a real chance of earning promotion this season.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith spoke exclusively to the club’s official website about his side’s recent charge into the play-off promotion places, and shared how he has noticed that his players do not seem to be feeling the pressure at all.

The Villans are currently in the midst of a fantastic run of form, having won their last five Championship games in a row, and they now sit in sixth spot in the table, with 60 points from their 39 games played.

What has been most impressive about Aston Villa recently, however, is the quality of football that they have been playing, and if they continue to produce these incredibly high levels, they will stand a great chance of going up this season.

This is when the pressure really starts to kick in, however.

Smith, though, told the club’s official website how his players seem to be immune from feeling the strain, or at least that’s the feeling he gets from watching them during training sessions:

“When you go into any game at this stage of the season and you are in the top six, it is a pressure game. But watching the lads training and playing, it doesn’t seem like there is a lot of pressure on them. It seems like they are enjoying their football again. That is good for me.”

Next up for Aston Villa is a trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, and nothing less than a win will do for Smith’s side, as they look to keep the pressure up on those above them in the table.
