Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has won two of his first four games in charge at Villa Park.

Dean Smith has told Aston Villa’s official Youtube channel that he feels Jack Grealish and John McGinn have been excellent since he first arrived.

Grealish scored his first goal of the season in Villa’s last match against Bolton Wanderers.

But Smith has suggested that he has been impressed by Grealish’s contribution to Villa’s team ever since he moved to Villa Park.

Smith said: “He’s been very good since I’ve been here to be honest. He’s a top player. John McGinn as well has been fantastic.

“We’ve been working on his arrival in the penalty box, he’s done it since I’ve come here. It’s something we all know that he can add to his game – goals and assists – because the other side of his game is there for all to see.”

Grealish’s goal against Bolton was very well taken, as he latched on to a Tammy Abraham through ball and finished well.

McGinn has also caught the eye ever since joining the claret and blues in the summer transfer window.

McGinn’s performances in central midfield have earned him great credit and quickly made him a fans’ favourite at Villa Park.

Villa are next in action at the weekend when they take on Derby County, and they will need Grealish and McGinn to be on the top of their games if they are to beat Frank Lampard’s high flying side.
