Aston Villa lost 2-1 away at Norwich City on Tuesday night.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has told the club’s official website that he thought winger Albert Adomah was giving Norwich City full back Max Aarons ‘real trouble’ before going off with a knee injury.

Villa travelled to take on Norwich on Tuesday night, and were looking to build on a 1-0 win over Swansea City on Saturday afternoon as they went to Carrow Road in Smith’s second game in charge.

Whilst Norwich were in charge early on, Smith saw his new side take the lead, with James Chester opening the scoring – but that’s about as good as it got for Villa.

Jordan Rhodes equalised with a header from a corner as Orjan Nyland came and didn’t claim the ball, before Rhodes added a second to win the game for the hosts.

Smith must now bounce back from his first defeat as Villa manager, and he as dealt two blows with injuries to Albert Adomah and Tammy Abraham, who were substituted for Anwar El Ghazi and Scott Hogan within four minutes of each other.

Adomah – who was allegedly told to leave Villa by Steve Bruce in August, according to TEAMtalk – has now started both of Smith’s games as he looks to revive his Villa career, and whilst his knee injury is a blow, Smith praised him after the game for giving full back Max Aarons ‘real trouble’.

Smith added that Abraham took a blow to the head so had to be substituted, and he will hope that the two injuries aren’t too serious as Villa prepare to face QPR on Friday night.

“Albert got a knock to the knee and had to come off,” said Smith. “It was a blow, that one, because I thought he was giving their full-back some real trouble.

“Tammy’s was a knock to the head. We’ve lost them, but all in all we’ve got to do better at defending the crosses,” he added.
