Aston Villa are reportedly set to complete the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause in a smart move from Dean Smith.
Hause, 23, has struggled for first-team football with Wolves this season following their promotion to the Premier League, and an exit seems inevitable.
The Daily Mail report that a deal for Hause will cost Villa £2million, and it certainly appears to be a clever deal for the club.
Firstly, Villa have two major needs in their defence; centre back and left back. Tommy Elphick’s return at least gives Villa another option at centre back, but adding another natural left back was a priority heading into this month.
The great thing with Hause is that he can play both positions to a high level, meaning Villa have virtually killed two birds with one stone by signing him.
Formerly of Wycombe Wanderers, Hause still has untapped potential having found himself on the sidelines at Molineux, and Villa can now be the beneficiaries.
£2million won’t break the Villa bank either, so given his versatility, his potential and his previous Championship experience, Hause appears to be a signing that ticks all the right boxes for Villa.
