Aston Villa cruised through in the Carabao Cup last night, with Keinan Davis on the scoresheet.

Villa hammered Crewe 6-1 in the Carabao Cup last night, with Davis handed his first start of the season up-front.
The powerful striker got on the scoresheet once, and his display did enough to earn him special credit from Smith, who was impressed by how ruthless his side were in front of goal.
“I thought we were very clinical and the quality showed, especially with our second goal,” Smith said.
“Keinan Davis, who I thought was great all night, has come short and Henri Lansbury has made a great deep run and reversed the ball for Conor Hourihane to make it two.
After that, I thought we were very good and obviously ran away with it, with the goals we scored.”
Davis was actually thought to be at risk of having to leave Villa on loan over the summer, but a strong pre-season kept him at the club.

Smith saw enough in the youngster to be convinced that he could provide competition for Wesley up-front over the course of the season.
Wesley and Davis have some similar skills, in the sense that they are both powerful forwards, who thrive off a physical battle.
Davis is yet to make a start for Villa in the Premier League this season, but the youngster has been utilised off the bench, and his performance last night will not have done his first-team chances any harm.
