Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has praised Leeds United for their performance last night, as quoted on BBC Sport.
Leeds got the better of Villa 3-0 away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League on Friday evening.
Patrick Bamford scored all three goals for the West Yorkshire club, and all of them came in the second half.
Smith has praised Leeds for their performance, and he has suggested that Bielsa’s side could have added more to their tally.
BBC Sport quotes the Villa boss as saying: “I thought it was fairly even in the first half in terms of chances but you have to make the most of your moments.
“I was disappointed after the first goal – I thought we lost the game after the first goal, we got disillusioned and they were very good.
“But after five games we have 12 points. Credit to Leeds, their work-rate was very good. They got their first goal and that changed the game. We looked disappointed and surprised.”
Smith added: “They scored the first goal and we got worse and they were very good. We probably got away with a 3-0 in the end with the chances they had.”
Leeds United have made a statement
Before the international break, Villa hammered defending Premier League champions Liverpool 7-2 at Villa Park in the league.
Smith’s side had won their previous four matches prior to the game against Leeds and must have been confident of beating them.
However, the Whites showed their class and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.
It was a statement from Leeds, as they sent a clear message to the Premier League that they should not be written off and can beat the best of teams away from home.
Leeds will return to action on November 2 when they take on Leicester City at Elland Road in the Premier League.
