Aston Villa striker Wesley has failed to score during his first two games for Dean Smith’s side.

Wesley was one of Villa’s most expensive signings of the summer, but he has failed to catch the eye in his first two appearances.
The powerful forward is yet to get off the mark for Villa, and still seems to have some work to do to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League.
But Smith insists that he has seen enough from Wesley in training to believe that he will be a success in a Villa shirt.
“There have been questions about him playing in the Premier League but he played in the Champions League last season – he’s not too shabby,” Smith said.
“He’s settled straight away. I can see that every day in training. He’s shown potential in his performances so far and that potential will come through.”
The problem for Wesley is that Villa never managed to get a deal over the line for a second striker in the summer.

Smith was chasing another front man, but Villa couldn’t quite get a deal done before deadline day.
It has increased the goalscoring burden that Wesley is having to carry at Villa Park, which means that he needs to start hitting the back of the net sooner rather than later.
Villa are next in action against Everton later this evening, when Wesley will be hoping it is third time lucky, as he searches for his first goal in English football.
