Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish, and Dean Smith has admitted that he is expecting bids for the youngster.

In comments reported by Birmingham Live, Dean Smith has insisted that it would be crazy if Aston Villa did not receive bids for Jack Grealish this summer, with Tottenham said to be interested in the 23-year-old.
Birmingham Live reports that Spurs still want Grealish having come close to signing him last summer. It is no surprise as the Villans talisman has enjoyed another outstanding campaign in the Championship.
He has spent a large portion of the season out with injury. But since his return, Villa have put together a 10-match winning run that has booked their spot in the play-offs. Unsurprisingly, many believe that Grealish’s return to the team was the catalyst for their record-breaking run.
And Smith has not looked to play down speculation surrounding Grealish’s future, insisting that he is expecting the club to receive offers for the Tottenham target.

“It would be crazy if we didn’t get bids for him,” he said, as reported by Birmingham Live.
“But he has committed his future to the club. He has a long-term contract and he’s a Villa fan. He is captain of the club now as well.”
Of all the Championship sides, Villa arguably stand the best chance of keeping their key players away from the very best in the Premier League due to their stature. If they manage to go up, they surely have the potential to emulate something like what Wolves have done in their first year back in the top flight.

But given what Spurs can offer, it would surely be fair to say that promotion is an absolute must if Villa want to stand a realistic chance of keeping Grealish beyond this season.
He is arguably showing the kind of form that suggests that he could be perfect for Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. So it will be interesting to see how the situation surrounding his future plays out over the coming months.
