Wesley didn’t score during Aston Villa’s latest match, but he still impressed Dean Smith.

Villa were cruelly beaten by the Reds last weekend, as Jurgen Klopp’s side scored late two goals to snatch the points away from the claret and blues.
Villa’s performance in the contest was still encouraging though, with Wesley impressing throughout.
The Brazilian showed a great work ethic, as he pressed and harried Liverpool’s defenders.
And Smith felt that Wesley’s display really set the tone for the rest of his teammates.
“The noise from the stadium when he was doing that was almost like he scored, it gives everybody a great lift,” Smith said.
“His performance was a lot better, the work rate from the whole team was a lot better.”

Villa have received a great deal of credit for their showing against Liverpool, but Smith will realise the importance of getting points on board.
Villa have collected 11 points from their first 11 games back in the top flight, which is a credible return, but only leaves them sitting in 16th place in the Premier League table.
Smith’s side are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Wolves.
