Does Steven Gerrard deserve a 4/10 for his first season with Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers?

Chris Sutton isn’t a popular figure among Rangers fans.
Not only did the BT pundit play for Rangers’ bitter rivals, but he has been known to take swipes at the Ibrox club quite a lot – and he took another one today.
Speaking live on BT Sport, Sutton responded ‘four’ when asked by host Robbie Savage to rate Steven Gerrard’s first season with the Gers out of 10.
Gerrard’s side were eliminated from the Scottish Cup in midweek and sit eight points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race.
The light Blues will almost certainly finish the season trophy-less which, in Sutton’s mind, justified the low mark.
Here’s how his fellow pundit Dean Saunders reacted to the rating.
“It’s really, really harsh. How well could he do when he took the job?” the Welshman told BT Sport.
“I think he’s put all the interest back in Scottish football. I’ve got to be honest, I lost a bit of interest because Celtic were running away with it. As soon as he got the job, he’s put the league back in shape again for me.”
Giving him a 4/10 is indeed incredibly harsh, when you consider that Gerrard, in his first season as a senior manager, led Rangers into the group stage of the Europa League after four gruelling qualification ties.
Even if the Gers don’t win anything this season, there is still many reasons to be cheerful from their perspective.
