Sam Allardyce has been given the boot despite guiding Everton to eighth in the table.
Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders has told TalkSPORT that he believes the sacking of Sam Allardyce at Everton is “unfair dismissal” and believes the former England boss could not have done much better.
Allardyce was sacked on Wednesday morning after Toffees fans had grown disillusioned at the former Sunderland, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and West Ham manager’s spell at the club.
However, he guided the Merseyside outfit to eighth in the Premier League table despite taking over when the club were in the relegation zone following a dismal start to the season under Ronald Koeman.
But fans are not happy despite his work at Goodison Park in which the club have finished in eighth, but ex-Liverpool striker Saunders has criticised owner Farhad Moshiri’s decision to axe the experienced Premier League manager.
“Unfair dismissal,” Saunders said. “In any other walk of life, that is unfair dismissal. Not treated very well – putting a survey out to the supporters asking if they want him? Disrespectful. Sacking him, after doing the job he’s done, I think is just unfair dismissal.”
Allardyce leaves Everton with a win ratio of 38.5 per cent, winning 10 of his 26 matches in charge, drawing seven and losing nine. A whole host of names have already been linked with the vacant role.
But the frontrunners are expected to be former Watford and Hull City manager Marco Silva, Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca and Manchester City assistant manager Mikel Arteta.
