Harry Kane will be eager to put the injury problems of last season behind him and help Tottenham Hotspur lift some silverware ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Dean Saunders has shut down the thought that Harry Kane’s wondergoal for Tottenham against Juventus has any significance.
The outspoken TalkSport pundit stated that Kane’s stunning injury-time winner, which was scored from the halfway line, ‘doesn’t count’ because of the nature of the game that it was played in.
Spurs recorded a brilliant 3-2 pre-season win over Serie A champions Juventus, who had Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks and former Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny in between the sticks.
Former Wales striker Saunders explained that Kane won’t remember that goal when his career ends as he played down his long-range strike.
“Don’t count,” Saunders told TalkSport. “It sounds good, I haven’t seen it, but it doesn’t count at the end of your career. It’s a friendly.”
Kane will have been pleased to get on the scoresheet against what was a pretty strong Juve side as both teams continue their pre-season preparations.
The England man will be hoping to avoid injury next season because he will be well aware that if he does that then it’ll increase Spurs’ chances of winning a trophy next season.
Nonetheless, Spurs’ pre-season preparations continue as they build for that first game of the season against newly-promoted Aston Villa.
