Slimani has scored twice for the Foxes since arriving from Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Dean Saunders has told Talksport that Leicester City will double their money on club-record signing Islam Slimani.

Slimani arrived at the King Power Stadium on deadline day in a deal worth £28 million (Talksport) from Portuguese giants Sporting.

The Algerian has played three times for the Foxes so far, scoring twice, and Saunders is tipping the Premier League champions to sell him on at a huge profit – despite the fact that he is already 28 years of age.

“This player they’ve signed, Slimani, he’s a really good player,” Saunders said while co-hosting Tuesday’s Jim White show.

“I think they’re going to double their money on him. I followed him for a bit, he was at Sporting Lisbon, I think he scored 57 goals in a hundred-odd games. He’s got 43 caps for Algeria; 23 goals. He was playing, like, lower league football not long ago and he’s just burst onto the scene. He’s scored a couple of goals already.”

When White interrupted, pointing out how much Leicester had paid for Slimani, the former Benfica player stuck to his guns.

“Yeah, they’ll double it,” he added.

Should Saunders’ prediction come true, Slimani would be far and away Leicester’s record outgoing transfer, with N’Golo Kante signed by Chelsea for a reported £30 million (BBC).

The former CR Belouizdad striker faces a familiar foe in FC Porto on Tuesday, in the Foxes’ first ever home Champions League encounter.

In eight games against the Dragons, Slimani scored six goals, made one and was on the winning side on five occasions – losing once.
