Everton have been linked with a surprise move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

Dean Saunders has claimed that Romelu Lukaku would be a ‘better’ option for Everton amid rumours linking them with a move for Diego Costa.
The Daily Mail have claimed that Everton are interested in signing Atletico Madrid striker Costa, who previously had a spell at Chelsea in the Premier League.
Marco Silva needs more firepower up top ahead of the new campaign but, at this moment in time, a new striker hasn’t walked through the doors of Goodison Park.
Speaking to Final Word on TalkSport (07/07 at 8:30 pm), former Wales striker Saunders made it clear that Everton shouldn’t push for Costa for one simple reason.
“The plus points is that he scores goals,” Saunders told TalkSport. “Then you have the discipline problem, but they need a striker.
“Since Lukaku’s gone they haven’t replaced him. Calvert-Lewin, he does the donkey work, but I am not sure he is a 20-goal a season man. But we will have to wait and see, he’s only young.
“But, at the moment, they need a striker. If you put Lukaku back into the team, he’d be better. He’d win them more games. The downside of Costa is you are signing a problem. At some point, he is going to become a problem. He’s got a red card in his bag at any moment. It’s up to Silva, but I wouldn’t sign him. You are signing a problem.”

Everton haven’t been able to find a regular goalscorer since parting ways with Lukaku, who could be heading for the Manchester United exit door this summer.
The Belgium international has vasts amounts of experience in England’s top-flight having stuck 113 goals during his time in the Premier League [transfermarkt], but his form in recent seasons has gone backwards.
Added with that, given his relationship with the Everton supporters now, it would be a huge surprise if they were to move for him. Plus, his potential transfer fee and wages would make it a no-go zone for all associated.
