Tottenham Hotspur will take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

talkSPORT pundit Dean Saunders has claimed that Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen would have been knocking on Mauricio Pochettino’s door for his comments about trophies.

In recent weeks, Spurs have seen their Premier League title challenge ended which has fuelled talk about when the London club will lift some silverware as Pochettino stated it could take 10 years, as quoted by Sky Sports.

But considering what Pochettino has had at his disposal, the fact that they are moving into a new stadium and haven’t signed a player for two transfers windows, it is pretty evident that the Argentine is overachieving.

Speaking on the Final World on talkSPORT on (03/03/2019 at 6:00 pm), Saunders claimed how some of the Spurs players would have reacted to Pochettino’s recent comments.

“His biggest problem with that statement is he would have already had a knock on the door,” Saunders told talkSPORT. “Guarantee you, he has had a knock on the door off one of the players.

“Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eriksen, [they would have said] ‘gaffer did you really mean that? is there no point me being here. I want to win thing’. He has got to then lie or tell them the truth.”

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino of Tottenham Hotspur looks on during the Tottenham Hotspur Press Conference and Training on March 4, 2019 in Dortmund, Germany.

At this moment in time, Spurs will be focussing on progressing through to the next stage of the Champions League as they have a big chance of making their mark on the competition.

They hold a three-goal lead over Dortmund going into their second leg last-16 encounter in Germany, with even a narrow defeat putting their name in the hat for the next round.

The likes of Kane and Eriksen will be available to Pochettino as the supporters will be well aware that an early goal for the away team will well and truly kill off the tie.

Marcos Reus and England international Jadon Sancho will be some of the attacking threats Dortmund will have at their disposal.
