Dean Saunders says he is ‘not sure’ about Tottenham Hotspur signing Manor Solomon on a free transfer this summer.

A winger by trade, preferably playing on the left-hand side and cutting in as he did at Fulham last season, Saunders thinks Manor Solomon shouldn’t join Tottenham because of Harry Kane.

The former Wales international thinks the 23-year-old, if Spurs secured his signature, would challenge the England captain for a place, not the wide players, and as a result, find himself on the bench, as he told talkSPORT.

From Fernando Llorente to Vincent Janssen, many strikers have moved to Hotspur Way over the years, but none can and will ever dethrone Kane.

Whilst Solomon is a versatile player, his preference is to play wide left, just like he did with Fulham last season where he scored four goals from 19 Premier League games.

But with Daniel Levy the world’s biggest fan of bargain deals, it isn’t a surprise that he is lurking for Solomon’s signature here.

It has been suggested by Fabrizio Romano that he will join, with Saunders sharing an odd take on it all.

“It depends,” said Saunders on the possible Solomon signing. “If you keep Harry Kane, then you need someone whO is prepared to come and sit on the bench. Then wait until Harry gets injured and step in for cup games or whatever.

“It’s difficult when you are trying to persuade a striker to come to Spurs, isn’t it?! What are you going to say? ‘No, you’re not going to play. Harry Kane is going to play. But when you get your chance, then you can take it’.

“Most strikers would go with something where they are going to start every week at another club, so I am not sure (about Solomon).”

Tottenham with Kane next season

It seems as though Levy isn’t going to even listen to offers from other Premier League clubs for Kane, but is that door open for a Bayern Munich?

They are trying and the German club will continue to bang that door down until the window slams shut.

If Spurs keep their star striker on board, then alongside the likes of James Maddison, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and attack-minded coach, Ange Postecoglou, then this Spurs side might finally go back to playing attacking football again.
