Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle has told the club’s official website that manager David Wagner won’t be leaving for another Championship club amid links to Aston Villa.
The Terriers took a real gamble in November 2015, as they sacked manager Chris Powell in favour of Wagner, who had been managing Borussia Dortmund II.

A disciple of Jurgen Klopp – and even the Liverpool manager’s best man – Wagner not only kept Huddersfield in the Championship last season, but has also guided them to a blistering start to this term.
Huddersfield currently sit top of the Championship table with 25 points from 11 games, losing just twice in a remarkable opening to the campaign.
Wagner’s high-energy, high-pressing style is catching the eye in the Championship, and he’s actually being heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa.

Villa, who have won just once in their 11 Championship games this season, sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo on Monday, and are searching for a new boss to take them back to the Premier League.
The Independent reported earlier this week that German boss Wagner had emerged as Villa’s first-choice – but he won’t be the man replacing Di Matteo.

Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle has confirmed to the club’s official website that Wagner has told him he won’t be leaving for a Championship rival, meaning a move to Aston Villa is off the cards.
“Like everyone, I know David has aspirations to manage at the highest level – but I also know he wants that to be with Huddersfield Town, which we’re all working to make possible in the future,” said Hoyle. “David has told me that he would never leave us for another Championship club, regardless of which club that is.”
“We all feel like something is coming together here at Huddersfield Town and we’re fully committed to seeing that through. Hopefully this will help to put some of our fans’ minds at ease as we all aim to continue our good start to the season, with the game against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, 16 October the only focus,” he added.
