Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Manchester United’s Dean Henderson.

According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign Manchester United’s Dean Henderson – and he should at least consider a move to North London.

Henderson, 21, has been coming up through the United ranks since signing from Carlisle United in 2011, and is currently on a fourth loan spell away from the club.

The goalkeeper is currently with Championship side Sheffield United, following on from loans with Stockport County, Grimsby Town and Shrewsbury Town.

Henderson’s impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed, and if Tottenham want to sign him this summer, it’s something he should really think about.

A move to Spurs is appealing for one key reason – future playing opportunities. At United, he is heading in the same direction as Sam Johnstone; a host of loans that take him no closer to actually playing a first United game.

David De Gea looks set to be the United goalkeeper for years to come, and it’s fair to say that a move to Tottenham may just be better off for him in the long run.

Hugo Lloris has endured arguably his worst season yet, and if Henderson can impress enough, he has a great chance of becoming Tottenham’s first-choice stopper long before he’d have a shot at United.

A move to Spurs would still be a gamble, given that Lloris remains a great goalkeeper, but after some shaky displays this season, Henderson should be looking at the Frenchman and feeling that he has a greater shot at supplanting him than De Gea.

How much Henderson is another matter, but with Spurs needing homegrown players and a goalkeeper for the future, this appears to be a match that works for all – if United are willing to part with Henderson.
