Everton have struggled this season, and currently sit in ninth place in the Premier League table.

Everton struggled yet again yesterday, as they were beaten 1-0 by Watford at Vicarage Road.
The Toffees failed to show much invention, with their performance drawing a lot of criticism.
Everton have spent a great deal in recent times in the hope of improving the quality of their team, yet the bulk of their signings have made little impact.

And Ashton feels that Everton’s struggles shows why there was not much competition for many of the players they signed.
“There’s a reason Everton managed to get Gylfi Sigurdsson. Same with any players they signed – Rooney, Keane, Bolasie and so on. Why? Because none of the top 6 wanted them,” the former England international said.
Sigurdsson was one of Everton’s most frustrating performers at Vicarage Road, as he failed to provide a creative spark.

Allardyce is now under serious pressure to not only bring an up-turn in Everton’s results, but also provide more entertainment.
The Toffees’ defeat to Watford has left them in ninth place in the Premier League table, which is a disappointing position for a side who invested so much money last summer.
