Newcastle United won’t be signing Rogerio, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move for Rogerio in recent weeks, but the arrival of Jamal Lewis means that no more left-backs will be signed, Romano claims.
That could be a slight disappointment, as Sassuolo full-back Rogerio looked an appealing target.
Sky had said earlier this week that Newcastle were in talks for the Brazilian, but the deal now seems to have fallen through.
Newcastle can still feel very satisfied with the business that they have done recently, though.
The additions of Lewis, Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser should make the Magpies a much stronger side for next campaign.
Newcastle’s stance over signing a left-back is also understandable.
Lewis is set to be first choice, and then they will have Paul Dummett as a reserve option on the left-hand side of their defence.
Steve Bruce will surely feel much more confident heading into the new campaign now, and there is actually optimism building on Tyneside.
