The Spanish international is ready to fight for his place at Real Madrid for the time being.
Isco celebrates scoring for Real Madrid
Tottenham Hotspur deadline day transfer target Isco has admitted to Marca that playing for another club might be easier than at Real Madrid, but insists he was not tempted to leave in the summer.
Spurs found themselves heavily linked with a move for the playmaker on transfer deadline day. The Spanish international is not a regular at the Bernabeu under Zinedine Zidane. Therefore, a move to White Hart Lane made sense.
Real Madrid’s Isco
Tottenham eventually did tie down deals for Pau Lopez, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Moussa Sissoko but Isco did not head to White Hart Lane.
Now the Spanish international has admitted to Marca that he life is tough at Real Madrid – but that he did not think about leaving in the summer.
He stated:
“Yes, possibly (it would be easier to play elsewhere), we are talking about the best players in the world, there is much competition and a line-up that is practically non-negotiable. It is possible that another team would play me more.”
“Not really (consider leaving), I have two years left on my Real contract, the club said nothing and I never looked for anything to leave.
“”I talked to him (Zidane) and knew it would be difficult to start each games, but I accepted the challenge. I want to train hard, show that I can be a starter and that’s what I will try now and for the rest of the year.”
Isco
This follows up on a report from Sport.es last month which suggested he is determined to leave the club in January.
The Spanish international would be a fantastic signing for a Premier League team – but Spurs move for Moussa Sissoko and the competition for places he would face would certainly make a big-money move somewhat surprising.
The 24-year-old has played just five games for Los Merengues this season – although he did start against Eibar at the weekend.
