De Gea, Amos, or Kuszczak? Manchester United goalkeeping dilemma for Chelsea clash

The injury of Anders Lindegaard and able deputising of Ben Amos in midweek has cast a big question over United’s trip to Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

When both Anders Lindegaard and David de Gea were declared unavailable for United’s midweek game with Stoke of all opponents it was like a perfect storm.

Surely Tomasz Kuszczak would not be recalled?

He did not start, but he made the bench. It has been bizarre that he has not been sold or attracted any serious bidders especially with a Poland international spot to aim at for Euro 2012.

Sir Alex Ferguson elected to go with the youth of Ben Amos, who did himself plenty of favours by keeping a first Premier League clean sheet.

Will he keep his place?

It is more likely Ferguson will bring in David de Gea, who has recovered from his illness ‘Stoke-itis?’ and is back in training.

De Gea has had his critics, we ourselves have stated he needs to really improve, and a high profile game at Stamford Bridge is not a game he will want to drop a clanger in.

The Spaniard is only 20 and has a great Old Trafford career ahead of him, but it is fast becoming the ‘right now’ that matters, as United seek to capitalise on hauling in rivals City.

For Lindegaard it is a cruel blow, the Dane was beginning to really look assured and was ready to go and become United’s number one for the season.

De Gea now has a great opportunity, but so does Amos, who could now feature in United’s Europa League run.

We believe De Gea will start on Sunday, Amos will be on the bench, and Kuszczak will be back watching in the stands.

If you were Sir Alex who would you play?
