Marco Silva quickly deemed it Rooney expendable after taking charge at Goodison Park.
Everton have saved a considerable amount by offloading Rooney, as they no longer have to pay his sizeable wages.

Everton are yet bring in a replacement for the former ex-England international, but are expected to be active before the window closes.
Silva is thought to have significant funds to invest at Everton, but things are yet to really heat up on Merseyside.
