Paris Saint-Germain kicked off their Ligue 1 campaign with a 3-0 win over Caen – and their young stars made as many headlines as their world-beaters.

PSG reclaimed the league title from Monaco last season but still moved on from Unai Emery, and have brought in Thomas Tuchel as his replacement, with strong signs in place already.

Whilst Neymar and Adrien Rabiot were on the scoresheet before Timothy Weah’s strike sealed a 3-0 win, Tuchel handed first-team opportunities to a number of youngsters.

Colin Dagba, Stanley N’Soki, Antoine Bernede and Christopher Nkunku all started, whilst Moussa Diaby and Weah came off the bench as Tuchel did something Emery rarely did by giving the clubs youngsters a chance.

That may be because certain first-team players arrived back late from the World Cup, and they were in the first team out of necessity, but the impressive displays mean some may have staked a real claim for more football.

Left back N’Soki has the perfect chance to play regularly given that Layvin Kurzawa is his only clear competition and was linked with a move away this summer, whilst Yuri Berchiche was moved on to Athletic Bilbao.

19-year-old N’Soki can now attempt to nail down a first-team spot, and he produced a superb display against Caen, which came just eight days after he notched two assists against Monaco.

N’Soki’s first league start came just days after he rejected a move to Newcastle United, according to Get French Football News, and fans on Twitter were raving about his performance, suggesting the Magpies may have really missed out on a top young talent.
