West Ham United are pursuing Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks.
Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks has told Get West London that his agent and the club are still talking about a new deal amid speculation linking him with West Ham United.
Fredericks, 25, came up through the ranks with Tottenham Hotspur before heading to Bristol City in 2015, but he returned to London with Fulham after making just four appearances for the Robins.
The right back has become a key player at Craven Cottage, featuring prominently under Slavisa Jokanovic whilst enjoying something of a dream season.
Fredericks has racked up seven assists in 39 Championship games this season, giving Fulham a dangerous attacking weapon from full back as they chase promotion to the Premier League.
The problem for the Cottagers is that Fredericks is out of contract this summer, and his status as an impending free agent means that clubs are now eyeing up his signature.
The Daily Mail report that Fredericks was the reason why West Ham boss David Moyes attended Fulham’s 2-0 win over Leeds United last week, with the Hammers hoping to sign him on a free transfer.
However, Fredericks has today told Get West London that his agent is still talking to Fulham about a new deal, and he wants nothing more than to play for Fulham in the Premier League – handing West Ham something of a dent to their hopes of securing a deal.
“They’re still talking, it’s no secret that I love being at Fulham, there’d be nothing better than playing for Fulham in the Premier League,” said Fredericks. “We’ll have to see what happens.”
“Once you get caught up in transfer speculation near the end of the season you’re form is going to dip, all I care about is doing well on the pitch and the relevant people will sort out my career while I’m doing the business on the pitch,” he added.
