Sheffield Wednesday will be hunting promotion to the Premier League next season.

Quoted by The Sheffield Star, Sheffield Wednesday commercial director Andy Daykin has predicted that the club will make a “flurry of signings” this summer.
Carlos Carvalhal’s side are still hurting after losing the Championship playoff final to Hull last month, Mohamed Diame netting a 72nd-minute winner to seal a 1-0 win.
But on reflection, the Owls will, in time, come to view it as a hugely encouraging season and they will be optimistic that they can one better next time around.

In order to achieve that, reinforcements will be needed ahead of what promises to be a very tough Championship campaign, with two Champions League-winning managers – Rafael Benitez and Roberto Di Matteo – hoping to win promotion for Newcastle United and Aston Villa respectively.
Owner Dejphon Chansiri, who took control of the club in January, 2015, said he wanted to see the club promoted by the end of the 2016-17 campaign, two months after buying Sheffield Wednesday.

And Daykin says the Thai businessman remains fully behind that top-flight dream, and says a whole heap of new recruits will be welcomed to the club this summer as Chansiri looks to make the dream a reality.
“He is absolutely 100 per cent determined that Sheffield Wednesday will get promoted. I’m sure there’ll be a flurry of purchases later in the summer,” he said via The Sheffield Star.
