Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Athletic revealed that Arsenal are trying to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu on deadline day.
What’s the story?
Well, throughout the summer, Tottenham seemed like they would be the next club in Tomiyasu’s career.
However, things have gone quiet on that front, with Spurs now close to wrapping up a deal for Emerson Royal from Barcelona instead (Guardian).
Tomiyasu is now said to have agreed personal terms with the Gunners, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Despite the additions of Cristian Romero and the incoming Emerson, it seems some Tottenham fans are still a bit jealous of Arsenal’s business.
One supporter said this news has ruined their day, while another expressed annoyance as Tomiyasu would’ve provided depth at both right-back and centre-back.
Why did Tottenham get cold feet over Takehiro Tomiyasu amid Arsenal interest?

At one point, this deal looked all but done.
The Telegraph even wrote that Tomiyasu’s move to N17 would be close to completion once he returned from the Olympic Games with Japan.
So, why is the versatile defender not a Tottenham player?
In our view, the sudden change could be down to the form of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez.

The pair have started all three Premier League games so far this season, helping Nuno Espirito Santo to overseen three 1-0 wins.
Their form has been excellent, so much so that it could’ve made Fabio Paratici abandon the Tomiyasu deal, in our view.
Let’s see what the Tottenham fans on Twitter have been saying about Tomiyasu potentially joining Arsenal…
