Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez has already confirmed himself as one of the most important players in Mauricio Pochettino’s team, and last night’s defeat to West Ham United has already served as proof.
Tottenham were beaten 3-2 by West Ham, with Sanchez left on the sidelines by Pochettino.
The 21-year-old defender has only been at Spurs for a matter of months, after a £40 million switch from Ajax (London Evening Standard), but he already appears to be one of the first names on the team sheet.
Sanchez possesses a great deal of pace and power, but he also has looked comfortable on the ball during his time at the North London club so far.
And without Sanchez last night, Spurs’ defence looked unusually porous.
West Ham ran out 3-2 winners at Wembley yesterday, with Pochettino’s backline not its usually sturdy self.
And Sanchez’s importance to Tottenham was only heightened in his absence.
Spurs will now surely bring Sanchez back into their team for their match against Manchester United at the weekend, and Pochettino will be hoping that the centre-back can pick up where he left off, as a win for Tottenham could be vital for their title chances.
