Davinson Sanchez impressed for Tottenham Hotspur against Huddersfield Town.
Harry Kane has been grabbing the headlines for Tottenham Hotspur throughout September, and rightly so. He has scored 13 goals in all competitions, crossed 100 goals for Spurs in all competitions, and is just 10 goals away from breaking Alan Shearer’s record of 36 Premier League goals in a calendar year.
Beside him, rest are just shadowy figures. However, one Tottenham player who has impressed heavily and is equally playing an important role is the newcomer Davinson Sanchez.
The Colombian defender joined Spurs from Ajax in the summer transfer window for a club record fee in the region of £42 million, according to BBC, and has fit in seamlessly in the back three alongside Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
With him in the side, Spurs have already kept four clean sheets. He is strong in tackling, blocking, good at reading the game, and keeps things simple.
Against Huddersfield Town, he won two aerial duels, had 89 touches (only Alderweireld has three more), made seven clearances (more than any other player in the match), made two tackles, one blocked shot and one interception.
He keeps his passing simple. He made 75 passes (only Alderweireld made more passes than him), with an eye-catching 96% passing accuracy, according to whoscored.com.
Sanchez has been a superb signing for Tottenham, and the 21-year-old can only get better as he settles in at his new club.
