Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez has told the club’s official website that he thinks Fernando Llorente is ‘important’ – and is showing his quality.

Spurs are back in action later today as they host Leicester City at Wembley Stadium, as they look to pick up yet another Premier League victory.

Having beaten Fulham, Watford and Newcastle United, Tottenham have won their last three Premier League games, and it’s nine wins in the last 11 in the league for Spurs.

Leicester have caused problems for some of the Premier League’s top sides this season though, and Spurs will have to guard against a slip-up.

Mauricio Pochettino will again be without Harry Kane for today’s game as the England striker continues his absence through injury.

That means that target man Llorente could be in line for a start, having come on as a substitute in last week’s win over Newcastle.

Llorente has impressed of late, scoring against Watford before picking up an assist against Newcastle, bouncing back from a torrid showing at Fulham after Kane’ injury.

Now, defender Sanchez has praised Llorente, suggesting that he doesn’t have many opportunities to shine but is now showing his quality, and is hugely important to the Tottenham squad even if he isn’t starting regularly.

“Fernando is doing well too,” said Sanchez. “It’s about confidence – everything is about confidence. When Harry is in front it’s difficult for him to have many opportunities to play but now is his moment to show his quality and his moment to keep giving his best efforts. He is important for the group – not just this season but last season as well,” he added.
