Defender Foyth starred for Tottenham on Wednesday night.

Davinson Sanchez has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he was mightily impressed with the performance of Juan Foyth against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
Sanchez was a surprise inclusion in the side after the 22-year-old has featured for the entire 90 minutes of Spurs’ loss to Manchester City on Monday night, partnering Foyth at centre-back.
Argentina youth international Foyth was the one who took the plaudits, though, after an inch-perfect performance that saw him shut out the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Felipe Anderson with blocks and tackles aplenty.
Speaking after the 3-1 win over their local rivals, Sanchez applauded the performance of 20-year-old Foyth and spoke of the defender’s current confidence.
“Juan played so well, he has so much confidence,” Sanchez said. “I think the most important thing was the team and we showed very good character.”

Foyth remains well down the pecking order as the club’s fourth-choice centre-back, with Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Sanchez above him. Eric Dier can also play in defence.
Joining Spurs from Estudiantes in the summer of 2017, Foyth is yet to make a single Premier League appearance for Spurs but has clocked up eight in all competitions.
Spurs are next in action on Saturday evening as they travel to the Midlands to take on Nuno Espirito Santo’s impressive Wolverhampton Wanderers side at Molineux.
