Tottenham’s record signing came on in injury time.
Tottenham Hotspur’s record signing Davinson Sanchez got his first taste of English football yesterday.
It was very brief, with the centre-back brought on in injury time in a 1-1 draw with Burnley, shortly after Chris Wood scored an equaliser for the Clarets.
The result was a disappointing one for Spurs at Wembley, who thought they had recorded their first win at the stadium this season, before Wood struck.
Tottenham’s players kept a low profile on social media after the game, except Sanchez for who the occasion was a milestone, irrespective of result.
He commented on Twitter after the match, writing: “It was not a great result but we will continue to fight. Proud of my first match @ SpursOfficial # EPL“
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino may regret not throwing on Sanchez before the goal, but at least the Colombian was blameless for Burnley’s equaliser.
Spurs’ upcoming fixtures are at home to Dortmund and away at Everton, and Pochettino will have to decide whether to shake up Tottenham’s backline and hand the Colombian a first start.
First he will have to return in top shape from international duty.
